CHERKAOUI

Direttore artistico del Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, da poco ospite a REF Roma Europa Festival e a Torino Danza Festival. Coreografo internazionale, artista tout court, curatore di danza, movimento e imagine per Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga per Dom Pérignon, Karl Lagerfeld e Christian Louboutin, collaboratore di Marina Abramovic per l’Opera de Paris.

Flemish-Moroccan. Choreographer. Draughtsman. Vegan. Homosexual. A child of the suburbs. Artistic Director of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève and his own company, Eastman. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui never fails to remind us that our identities are fluid and multiple, never monolithic nor static. His thirst to dialogue and join hands with his counterparts has been a constant in Cherkaoui's artistic DNA, and resulted in pieces like 生长genesis with the Chinese dancer Yabin Wang, Dunas alongside flamenco exponent María Pagès and OOK, made with Nienke Reehorst and the mentally disabled actors of Theater Stap. But Cherkaoui's collaborations cut across all artistic disciplines: cinema, with Joe Wright's Anna Karenina; theatre, with Pluto, for the Bunkamura Theatre in Tokyo; the opera Shell Shock for La Monnaie in Brussels; musical, with Jagged Little Pill on Broadway, to the music of Alanis Morissette; and sequences of Cirque du Soleil shows Michael Jackson ONE and Kurios. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui has made over 50 full-fledged choreographic pieces and picked up a slew of awards, including two Olivier Awards, three Ballet Tanz awards for best choreographer (2008, 2011, 2017), the Kairos Prize (2009) for his artistic vision and his quest for intercultural dialogue, the Europe Prize Theatrical Realities (2018), and the Jacob's Pillow Dance Award (2022). Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is associate artist at Sadler's Wells in London and at Théâtre National de Bretagne in Rennes. He directed the Royal Ballet Flanders from 2015 to 2022, where he has created Fall (2015), Exhibition (2016) and Requiem (2017), among others.
 

NELSON PARRISH EARL

è un danzatore, coreografo e coach del movimento australiano. Ha lavorato con coreografi di spicco come Alexander Ekman, Rafael Bonachela e Antony Hamilton. È stato nominato due volte ai Sir Robert Helpmann Awards come miglior danzatore australiano. Successivamente ha collaborato con la DV8 Physical Theatre nello spettacolo Enter Achilles di Lloyd Newson e ha creato un assolo per la stagione UnWrapped della Sydney Opera House. Nel 2021 ha lavorato come coach del movimento per Nicole Kidman nel film Being the Ricardos. Ha fatto parte della compagnia Dancenorth. Ha collaborato con l’Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (OBV), entrando nell’ensemble nel 2023 e danzando in Half Life, Ombra e Rain. Dopo aver lasciato OBV, ha lavorato con le compagnie Peeping Tom e Eastman, e ha partecipato a un film diretto da Felix Van Groeningen.

Nelson Parrish Earl is an Australian dancer, choreographer and movement coach. He gained his first professional dance experience from 2015 to 2018 with Sydney Dance Company, where he performed works by Alexander Ekman, Rafael Bonachela and Antony Hamilton, among others. He was twice nominated for the Sir Robert Helpmann Awards as the best dancer in the country. He went on to work with DV8 Physical Theatre company on the revival of Lloyd Newson's ‹Enter Achilles› . He was then commissioned to create a solo for the Sydney Opera House's UnWrapped season. In 2021 Nelson was invited as Nicole Kidman's personal movement coach for the film ‹Being the Ricardos›. He was a member of Dancenorth for two seasons where he performed ‹Red› and ‹Wayfinder› and choreographed two works for the Tomorrow Maker's Programme. Nelson joined Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, where he first performed as a guest dancer in ‹Satyagraha› by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. He has been part of the ensemble since 2023 and performed in Sharon Eyal's ‹Half Life›, Alain Platel's ‹Ombra› and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's ‹Rain›. Since leaving OBV, Nelson has worked with Peeping Tom and Eastman including a new film directed by Felix Van Groeningen.

MICHELE MEROLA si è diplomato presso l'Associazione Balletto Classico diretta da Liliana Cosi e Marinel Stefanescu a Reggio Emilia; in seguito ha lavorato come danzatore presso le compagnie Aterballetto, Arena di Verona, Toulon Opera House, Fabula Saltica di Rovigo. Oggi Merola è direttore artistico e coreografo principale della MM Contemporary Dance Company, compagnia di danza contemporanea da lui fondata nel 1999. Con essa ha portato sulla scena, sia in Italia che all'estero, molte coreografie, fra le quali Mattanza (vincitrice del 17° Concorso Internazionale di Coreografia di Hannover, Germany 2003), La Capinera (Premio miglior coreografia, Serbia 2007 e al festival Purgatorije di Tivat, Montenegro 2007), La metà dell'ombra (vincitrice del Premio Anita Bucchi, Italia 2010), Con le labbra dipinte (prima rappresentazione presso il Seul International Dance Festival Sidance 2010, Corea), Narciso (2012), Bolero (2015 - Premio Europaindanza 2017), Pulcinella (2016), Gershwin Suite (2018), Vivaldi umane passioni (2019), Pastorale (2020), Balada (2021). Dal 2000 Michele Merola ha realizzato numerose coreografie anche per altre compagnie, fra le quali Aterballetto (2001, Reggio Emilia), Teatro S. Carlo (2003, Napoli), Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre (2007, U.S.A.), Teatro Massimo di Palermo (2008), Balletto di Toscana (2009, Firenze), Teatro Terazijama di Belgrado (2007-2010, Serbia), Tanzcompagnie Landesbühnen Sachsen di Dresda (2018, Germania), Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (2021). Nel 2021 ha realizzato le coreografie, interpretate dalla MMCDC, dell'opera lirica Maria de Buenos Aires di Astor Piazzolla, regia di Carlos Branca, prodotta da Ravenna Festival e Teatro Comunale di Ferrara. Nel 2008 ha vinto il Premio Positano Leonide Massine per l'Arte della Danza e nel 2010 la MMCDC si è aggiudicata il premio Danza&Danza quale migliore compagnia emergente italiana. Nel 2016 vince il premio GD Awards 2016 (www.ilgiornaledelladanza.com) come Migliore Coreografo italiano. Nel 2017 la MM Contemporary Dance Company ha ottenuto il Premio Europaindanza 2017 - Premio al Merito alla coreografia, per Bolero, coreografia di Michele Merola. Sempre nel 2017 Merola ha vinto il Premio "L'Abella Danza" (in memoria di Ricardo Nunez)presso l'Anfiteatro Romano di Avella (AV). Nel 2018 Merola ha vinto il Premio "Incontro con la danza" istituito da Basilicata ArteDanza "per essere riuscito a creare una Compagnia di riferimento internazionale valorizzando i danzatori grazie all'eccellenza della propria arte coreutica". Nel 2019 Merola ha vinto il Premio " Metti le ali al Talento" per la carriera e la direzione artistica della MMCDC. Dal 2010 Michele Merola è, con Enrico Morelli, direttore artistico di Agora Coaching Project, progetto di perfezionamento professionale per danzatori che ha sede a Reggio Emilia.
 

YOHAN
STEGLI

Già danzatore della compagnia dell’Hamburg Ballet e ballerino solista e ha interpretato ruoli principali in numerosi balletti di John Neumeier. Ha danzato come ospite in città internazionali e ha vinto importanti premi, tra cui il Prix Espèces al Prix de Lausanne (1998) e l’Eurovision per giovani danzatori (1999). Dopo aver lavorato anche come coreografo, ha concluso la carriera scenica nel 2011. È stato maître de ballet e vicedirettore artistico del Bundesjugendballett fino al 2017, diventandone poi Direttore Organizzativo. Nel 2024 è stato membro della giuria del Prix de Lausanne.

Yohan Stegli, born in 1980 in Aix-en-Provence, France, studied at the Mireille Marin Dance School in Trets and the Ballet School of the Hamburg Ballet. His most important teachers include Mireille Marin, Pedro Consuegra, Marianne Kruuse, Anatoli Nisnevich, Kevin Haigen, Radik Zaripov, and Nicole Leduc. In 1999, he became a member of the Hamburg Ballet Company, where he advanced to soloist in 2004. He danced solo roles in various ballets by John Neumeier, including “Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler”, “Winter Journey”, “Matthew Passion”, and “Opus 100 - for Maurice”. He has guest performed in Tokyo, Osaka, Luxembourg, and at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. At the Ballet School of the Paris Opera and the Royal Ballet School, he studied John Neumeier’s ballet “Yondering” with the students. In 1998, he received the Prix Espèces at the Prix de Lausanne and in 1999, he won the first prize at the eighth Eurovision competition for young dancers. Yohan Stegli has repeatedly worked as a choreographer. In Hamburg, he organized the performances of the “Young Choreographers” in April 2011. He ended his stage career in 2011. From the founding of the Federal Youth Ballet in 2011 until the end of the 2016/2017 season, Yohan Stegli was the ballet master of the company and deputy of the artistic and pedagogical director Kevin Haigen. Since the 2017/2018 season, he has been the Organizational Director of the Federal Youth Ballet. In 2024, he was a member of the jury of the Prix de Lausanne.

CLEMENTINE
DELUY

artista internazionale membro del Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Collaboratrice di Sasha Waltz & Guests, ha aderito a nuove opere con Pascal Merighi, Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola e Fabien Prioville. Ha preso parte al film Pina diretto da Wim Wenders e nel documentario Dancing Pina di Florian Heinzen-Ziob. E’ uno dei direttori artistici per la Semperoper Dresda, progetto della Fondazione Pina Bausch.

Clémentine Deluy (born in Marseille and based in Wuppertal) began her classical dance education at the Ecole Nationale de Marseille. After studying at the Conservatoire Superieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon, she entered the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen in 1998. Deluy joined Sasha Waltz & Guests in 2002 and participates in various works such as noBody, Körper, insideout, Impromptus and Dido and Aeneas. In 2006 she became a member of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, danced in 17 pieces from the repertoire and was part of 2 creations: Bamboo Blues and Como el musguito en la Piedra ay si, si ,si. At Bausch’s request, she learned and performed her role in Cafe Müller. From 2014 on, Deluy returned to further collaborations with Sasha Waltz & Guests, joined new works with Pascal Merighi, Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola and Fabien Prioville. She took part in the movie Pina directed by Wim Wenders and in the documentary Dancing Pina by Florian Heinzen-Ziob. April 2024, Clementine premiered in the theater piece Phaedra, directed by Pascal Merighi and Thusnelda Mercy, for the Wuppertal Bühnen. She is carrying in it the main role of Phaedra. 2019, Deluy is one of the artistic directors for the re-staging of Iphigenia auf Tauris a piece by Pina Bausch, for the Semperoper Dresden, project led by the Pina Bausch Foundation. The same year, she joined the project Commons ground[s]. Das Frühlingsopfer. 2021 she became one of the artistic directors for this project. In October 2023, Clémentine is nominated for the Deutsche theater Preis Der Faust. Deluy leads regularly international workshops where she is sharing the dance heritage of the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen.

LAKS

artista della danza canadese che lavora come produttore, curatore e consulente artistico. Attualmente collabora con Eastman / Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. In precedenza è stato direttore artistico del Ballet Vlaanderen presso l’Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. Dal 2020 al 2023 ha fatto parte del consiglio curatoriale di Dansens Hus (la scena internazionale della danza contemporanea in Svezia) a Stoccolma. Ha collaborato frequentemente con il coreografo Alan Lucien Øyen, ricoprendo vari ruoli all'interno della compagnia di Øyen, Winter Guests, e in progetti collegati. Dal 2016 al 2018 è stato direttore del programma Creative Gesture presso il Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. In passato, Stephan è stato direttore delle prove presso il GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, e per periodi più brevi con il Royal Swedish Ballet, Sasha Waltz & Guests e lo Staatsballett Berlin.

Artefice e pioniera del primo movimento Urban Fusion in Italia, linguaggio di ricerca distintivo della compagnia e del NOHA | NationOfHumanArts, la più longeva Scuola di Alta Formazione di Danze Urbane e Nuovi Linguaggi Metropolitani, giunta quasi al suo trentesimo anno di attività.

JUNG

ballerina e coreografa serba nata a Belgrado nel 1972, si è formata tra Belgrado e New York. Ha danzato nel musical Starlight Express e ha sviluppato una carriera freelance internazionale. Nel 2003 ha fondato il Belgrade Dance Festival e la National Dance Foundation, prima scuola privata di balletto in Serbia. Premi e riconoscimenti includono l’Ordine delle Arti e della Letteratura (Francia, 2016) e l’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (2018). Dal novembre 2024 è direttrice del Balletto del Teatro Nazionale Serbo di Novi Sad.

Born in Belgrade in 1972, Aja Jung graduated from the State Ballet School in her home town. She received a two-year scholarship from the Joffrey Ballet School in New York in 1988. During her training in New York, she was simultaneously involved in programs at the Julliard University, the Carnegie Hall's Neubert Ballet Institute and the Broadway Dance Center. Returning to Europe brings her a role in the Starlight Express musical in Bochum, Germany. Upon her return in Belgrade, she begins her career as a freelance dancer and choreographer, producing four full-evening works: Ophelia in the Mirror (premiere: Thessaloniki, Greece, August 1992), Moi, La Meduse (premiere: Municipal Theater of Corfu, Greece, January 1994), Zelle (premiere: Belgrade, Atelje 212, May 1999), The Josephine Baker's Story (premiere: New York, USA, August 2002 and Belgrade Drama Theater, October 2002). All four productions were constantly touring on important festivals and stages around the world: New York, Toronto, Paris, Arles, Avignon, Athens, Larissa, Rodos, Corfu, Heraklion, Argostoli, La Spezia, Palermo, Bari, Bolzano, Lucca, Pietrasanta, Trieste, Bologna, Livorno, Moscow, Jalapa, Mexico City, Veracruz, Limassol, Nicosia, Kiev, Odessa, Caracas, Dakar, Edinburg, Kaunas, Yerevan, Krakow, Sibiu, Bucurest... As a dancer and choreographer, she has received several important awards in Italy, Ukraine and Serbia. She was one of the founders and artistic director of Corfu Fest in Corfu (2002-2005). She is founder and director of the Belgrade Dance Festival established in 2003. At the very beginning, the Belgrade Dance Festival was awarded by the Jelena Šantić Foundation, while UNESCO proclaimed it a flagship project in the field of culture in Southeast European region (2006), followed by admission to the World Dance Alliance under the auspices of ITI UNESCO. In 2011, the festival was organized under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Serbia and won the Star of Belgrade award by the European Integration Agency. The German magazine BalletTanz, in 2012, labeled the Belgrade Dance Festival as "trendsetter". Since 2013, the Festival has been organized under the auspices of the EU Delegation to Serbia. In 2013, the monograph "DecaDance" – marked the 10th year of the Belgrade Dance Festival, while documentary "AbunDance" marked 20 years of the Festival, with premiere in 2025, at Dance On Camera in New York. During the past 22 editions, the Belgrade Dance Festival has presented more than 600 choreographic works, while the latest editions of the Festival are attended by nearly 20.000 spectators and 120 accredited journalists. Aja Jung is the director of the National Dance Foundation, established in 2009 by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia. The Foundation has launched the first private Ballet School, collaborating with well known ballet schools and institutions from Italy, Russia, China and Cuba, and bringing best teachers from abroad. The Foundation has produced several own productions of contemporary choreographers Dana Ruttenberg, Miloš Isailović, Staša Zurovac, Paolo Mangiola, Itzik Galili... and continuously organizes workshops, seminars and master courses of foreign teachers. In 2017, the National Foundation's Ballet School has received accreditation by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia. Aja Jung has been the Vice President of the European Section of the World Dance Alliance - WDA Europe, ITI UNESCO, based in Rome since 2010. She holds many important international recognitions and she served several important roles in international and local organizations. According to the decision of the French Minister of Culture, Audrey Azule, she was awarded the Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature in 2016. According to the decision of the President of Italy, Sergio Matarella, in 2018 she was awarded the highest Italian national decoration in the field of culture, the Order of the Italian Star. Since November 2024, Aja Jung is director of the Ballet Company of the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad. She speaks Serbian, Greek and English, while she may communicate also in Italian and French.

È membro del Comitato Scientifico per lo Spettacolo dal vivo della Regione Emilia-Romagna. Autrice di saggi e insegnante di Storia della danza.

Laurea in Lettere Moderne all'Università Cattolica di Milano, Master in Management dello Spettacolo alla Luiss di Roma, "Cultore della materia" per la Cattedra di Drammaturgia coreutica dell'Università Cattolica di Brescia. È giornalista, critico di danza, studiosa ed editore. Direttore responsabile dal 2013 di Danza&Danza, storico magazine in edicola dal 1986 e di Danza&Danza International, magazine in lingua inglese distribuito in tutto il mondo da lei fondato, è membro dell'Advisory Board di Oriente Occidente Dance Festival, Commissaria per lo Spettacolo dal Vivo della Regione Emilia-Romagna, Consulente scientifico per Sky Arte Hub per la serie di documentari televisivi Why do we dance?. Scrive saggi e programmi di sala per Fondazioni Liriche, Teatri e Festival. Insegna Storia della Danza e collabora dall'Italia con la rivista tedesca Tanz.

musicista specializzato nell’accompagnamento alla danza, con una solida formazione accademica e internazionale. Dopo gli studi in pianoforte e il perfezionamento all’Accademia Nazionale di Musica di Sofia, si è specializzato nel repertorio coreutico all’Accademia del Teatro alla Scala di Milano. Ha lavorato in prestigiosi teatri europei, tra cui il Teatro San Carlo di Napoli e il Teatro Nazionale Ceco di Praga. Attualmente è Maestro al ballo alla Wiener Staatsoper di Vienna. Parallelamente, ha collaborato come pianista con orchestre d’opera e nel 2022 ha partecipato come solista alla produzione “A Streetcar Named Desire” con il Balletto Nazionale Ceco, unendo musica e danza in modo integrato.

Giovanni Curreli è un musicista specializzato nell’accompagnamento alla danza, con una formazione che unisce studi accademici in pianoforte e perfezionamento presso istituzioni internazionali, tra cui l’Accademia Nazionale di Musica di Sofia. Ha successivamente approfondito il repertorio coreutico con una specializzazione presso l’Accademia del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, avviando un percorso professionale che lo ha portato a collaborare con importanti teatri europei. Attualmente è Maestro al ballo presso la Wiener Staatsoper di Vienna, dopo aver ricoperto lo stesso ruolo al Teatro San Carlo di Napoli. In precedenza ha lavorato come Maestro Sostituto al Teatro Nazionale Ceco di Praga e al Teatro Nazionale Serbo di Novi Sad, oltre che come accompagnatore alla danza in diversi licei coreutici italiani. Parallelamente, ha collaborato in qualità di pianista aggiunto con le orchestre di teatri d’opera, tra cui l’Orchestra dell’Opera di Stato di Praga, suonando pianoforte, celesta e organo in produzioni che spesso coinvolgono il corpo di ballo. Nel 2022 ha partecipato come pianista solista alla produzione “A Streetcar Named Desire” di John Neumeier con il Balletto Nazionale Ceco, consolidando un profilo artistico capace di integrare profondamente musica e movimento scenico.
